To Sell Is Human by Daniel H. Pink

To Sell Is Human by Daniel H. Pink

In this book, Mr. Pink explains the simple truth about sales in this modern era; we are all in sales. Even though your professional job title might not have sales in it, you probably spend most of your day trying to convince others to do something. As Mr. Pink describes in his book, you might be pitching your colleagues a new idea, trying to entice funders into your startup, or negotiating with your two-year-old to go to bed on time; we spend our days trying to move others. He goes on to explain what scientific studies have shown in the area of persuasion and how to better yourself in the art of communication. At the end of the day, humans are bad at listening to each other, and we spend most of our time thinking about what we are going to say rather than being present in the conversation. Near the end of the book, Mr. Pink explains how improvisational theatre can help you sharpen your skills to thrive in any situation. If you talk with people, which is probably most of you, I’d most definitely recommend reading this book at least once.
